An intelligent film that observers, with cool detachment, the dissolution of a marriage. For all outward appearances, Anne (Huppert) and Pierre (Auteuil) are contentedly married. But we gradually see signs of strain in their expressions and stiffness around each other. When Anne tells Pierre she's in love with another man, he tries to remain composed, if only for their young child. But he explodes, and the relationship spirals out of control. Flawless portrayals of multi-dimensional characters.
