Rip Torn (Elmore Rual Torn, Jr.) actor Born: 2/6/1931 Birthplace: Temple, Texas
A versatile actor who portrays characters from the violent to the comic, Torn broke into the movies in the 1950s and made memorable appearances in Baby Doll (1956), Sweet Bird of Youth (1962), Tropic of Cancer (1970, as Henry Miller), Payday (1971), and Cross Creek (1983), which earned him an Oscar nomination. His numerous TV roles include a turn as Richard Nixon in Blind Ambition (1979); he won an Emmy for his role on The Larry Sanders Show (1996). He was married to actress Geraldine Page, and is the cousin of actress Sissy Spacek.
