A sleeper hit, Safe Men marks the promising debut of John Hamburg, who may just give the Farrelly brothers a run for their money. While it's not There's Something About Mary, the film does have its share of lowbrow laughs. Hopeless lounge singers Sam (Rockwell) and Eddie (Zahn) have a chance to change their lives when they're mistaken by a local mobster for a pair of ace safecrackers. That they are even worse criminals than they are musicians turns out to be the least of their problems.
