A leading man known for his rugged good looks and gravelly voice, he first gained attention in the 1976 movie Lifeguard . His other movies include Mask (1985), Prancer (1989), Tombstone (1993), Gettysburg (1993), The Big Lebowski (1998) and The Contender (2000). He also starred in a number of TV westerns, including The Sacketts (1979) and Buffalo Girls (1995). He is married to actress Katharine Ross, with whom he has appeared in several films, including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Shadow Riders (1982), and Conagher (1991), which Elliott also helped write and produce.
