Herbie Hancock jazz musician Born: 4/12/1940 Birthplace: Chicago
An Academy and Grammy Award-winning composer and musician known for his improvisational instrumentals, he has won Grammys for his work in styles ranging from Jazz to R&B to just plain instrumental. His work in scoring for films has led him to work with George Lucas in an early student film project, Herbie (1966), and later with Richard Pryor for Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life is Calling (1986). He won an Oscar for his score of 'Round Midnight (1986).
