Catherine Scorsese, mother of the director Martin Scorsese, found her way into acting when her son cast her in a number of his films. Bringing personality and verve to the screen, she appeared in the hit films Moonstruck (1987), Goodfellas (1990), Cape Fear (1991), Casino (1995), and others. Also renowned for her cooking skills, she published the recipe book Italianamerica: The Scorsese Family Cookbook (1997).
