Linda Hunt actress Born: 4/2/1945 Birthplace: Morristown, New Jersey
Despite her small stature (she is 4' 9"), Hunt opted to risk typecasting and pursue a career in the spotlight. Playing a male dwarf opposite Mel Gibson won her an Oscar in The Year of Living Dangerously (1983), though she also appears on the stage and in television. She had a recurring role as a judge in David E. Kelley's television Emmy-winning law drama The Practice (1997–2002) and is a familiar voice in television narration, from PBS nature shows to commercials for luxury cars and international package delivery firms. Her film appearances include Dune (1984), Kindergarten Cop (1990), Prêt-à-Porter (1994), and The Relic (1997).
