Intelligent, highly regarded actor who graduated from “brat pack” films such as Class (1983) and Sixteen Candles (1984) to complex roles in films such as The Grifters (1990) and Grosse Pointe Blank (1997), which he also co-wrote. Cusack is from a family of actors, most notably his sister, the comic actress Joan Cusack, who has appeared with him in several films, including Say Anything (1989). His other credits include The Thin Red Line (1998), Pushing Tin (1999), Being John Malkovich (1999), and High Fidelity (2000).
