An accomplished thespian of both stage and screen, Sewell has proven himself adept at playing a range of roles in pieces as diverse as Shakespeare (Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, 1996), period dramas (Middlemarch 1994, Dangerous Beauty, 1998), and futuristic thrillers (Dark City, 1998). He has played comedic roles in Cold Comfort Farm (1996) and drug addicts as in Twenty-One (1991) Other films include In a Savage Land (1999), and A Knight's Tale (2001). His stage work includes Tom Stoppard's Acadia.
