Neil Jordan

writer, director, screenwriter, producer
Born: 2/25/1950
Birthplace: County Sligo, Ireland

Neil Jordan worked as a laborer in London before founding the Irish Writers Co-operative in 1974 and publishing the acclaimed story collection A Night in Tunisia (1976) and the haunting novel The Past (1980). He brought his dark, sometimes unnerving creative vision to film with his directing and screenwriting debut, the thriller Angel/Danny Boy (1982). His writing and directing credits include such imaginative and controversial works as Mona Lisa (1986); The Crying Game (1992), which earned six Oscar nominations; Michael Collins (1996); and Interview with the Vampire (1994), which he adapted to the screen.
