The daughter of musical playwright Russell Crouse, she has appeared in a number of movies, including Slap Shot (1977), The Verdict (1982), Places in the Heart (1984), House of Games (1987), Desperate Hours (1990), and The Insider (1999). She was formerly married to the playwright David Mamet.
