Costa-Gavras

(Konstantinos Gavras)
director
Born: 2/12/1933
Birthplace: Loutra-Iraias, Greece

A famed director of politically themed films, he made his debut in 1965 with The Sleeping Car Murder, a detective thriller which he both wrote and directed. His other films, many of which concern political repression, include Z (1969), State of Siege (1973), Missing (1982), Betrayed (1988), The Music Box (1989), and Mad City (1997).
