A writer of short stories and radio scripts, she later turned to writing suspense novels with Where Are the Children (1975). It became a best-seller as did many of her subsequent novels, including A Stranger is Watching (1978), The Cradle Will Fall (1980), Loves Music, Loves to Dance (1991), Let Me Call You Sweetheart (1995), and Moonlight Becomes You (1996).
