After a successful film debut in David Mamet's About Last Night… (1986), Perkins won accolades for her role opposite Tom Hanks in Big (1988). Since then she has capably tackled a variety of roles in movies such as Avalon (1990), The Doctor (1991), The Flintstones (as Wilma, 1994), I'm Losing You (1998) and Cats & Dogs (2001) .
