Ed Harris

actor
Born: 11/28/1950
Birthplace: Englewood, New Jersey

Highly respected, Oscar-nominated character actor who has played both the hero—John Glenn in The Right Stuff (1983)—and the antihero—E. Howard Hunt in Nixon (1995). Harris has had several leading roles, but his strongest efforts seem to have come in supporting roles such as that of Mission Control Director Gene Kranz in Apollo 13 (1995) and puppetmaster Christof in The Truman Show (1998). The husband of actress Amy Madigan, the couple worked together in Places in the Heart (1984) and in Pollock (2000), in which Harris plays the painter, Jackson Pollock.
