Page turned in many notable performances on stage and screen, often playing fragile, eccentric characters. After 7 Oscar nominations, she finally received the Best Actress award for her role in The Trip to Bountiful (1986). Her numerous credits include Hondo (1953, opposite John Wayne), Sweet Bird of Youth (1962, opposite Paul Newman), Interiors (1978), and Native Son (1986). She won two Emmy Awards for performances in TV movies. Page was married to actor Rip Torn.
