The Secret Life of Desmond Pfeiffer

Set in the Civil War, the sitcom chronicles the life and times of Pfeiffer (McBride), one of Abraham Lincoln's key advisors and the chief White House butler. Don't be fooled, this is really supposed to be comedy, not a sci-fi time-travel adventure series. The show's handling of slavery set off a firestorm of protests, prompting the network to shelve the pilot.
