A pop artist known for his soulful ballads, he achieved superstar status in 1989 after the release of his fourth album, Soul Provider, which generated five Top 40 singles, including the Grammy Award-winning “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You?” He released Timeless, a collection of cover songs, in 1992 and My Secret Passion, an album of opera arias, in 1998.
