Considered by many to be the greatest American songwriter ever, he wrote such popular favorites as “Alexander's Ragtime Band,” “Always,” “God Bless America,” and “White Christmas,” as well as the hit musicals Annie Get Your Gun (1946) and Call Me Madam (1950). He also wrote the scores for three Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies, including Top Hat (1933), which features the classic song “Cheek to Cheek.”
