Journalist and popular novelist who became a celebrity in his own right, known for hobnobbing in Hollywood. His best-selling works of fiction were made into television movies, including An Inconvenient Woman (1991) and A Season in Purgatory (1993). Another City, Not My Own: A Novel in the Form of a Memoir (1997) is a fictional retelling of the O.J. Simpson trial, which he covered for Vanity Fair. He is the father of actor/director/writer Griffin Dunne and actress Dominique Dunne.
