Wild Man Blues| Director: | Barbara Kopple | | Director of Photography: | Tom Hurwitz | | Editor: | Lawrence Silk | | Producer: | Jean Doumanian | | Fine Line Features; PG; 104 minutes | | Release: | 4/98 | | With: | Woody Allen, Dan Barrett, Greg Cohen, Eddy Davis, John Gill, Cynthia Sayer and Simon Wettenhall |
Documentary filmmaker Kopple leaves behind the American heartland to take on an American cultural phenomenon — Woody Allen. Wild Man Blues follows the actor/director/musician and his Dixieland band on a European tour that is certainly meant more for the amusement of Allen fans and detesters than jazz aficionados. Behind-the-scene moments with Allen's new bride, Soon-Yi Previn, his band and the press provide glimpses of Allen in all his neurotic glory.
