Martin Balsam

Born: 11/4/1919
Birthplace: Bronx, New York

A veteran character actor of stage and television, he made his film debut in On the Waterfront (1954). His most memorable roles include the private detective Milton Arbogast in Psycho (1960) and Arnold Burns in A Thousand Clowns (1965), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also appeared in Catch-22 (1970), Little Big Man (1970), Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970), and Cape Fear (1991).
