Selleck's comeback wave crests with a return to CBS as Jack McLaren, an ad exec who quits his corporate job Jerry Maguire-style and takes his eclectic creative team with him. Selleck may have traded Hawaiian shirts for a suit, but he plays same kind of cocky guy with a big heart that Magnum fans found so endearing. Despite Selleck's appeal and a talented supporting cast, dull writing keeps The Closer from making the anticipated big splash.
