A satirical comedy about a filmmaker, ironically named Alan Smithee (Eric Idle) who pulls the plug on his own ailing big-budget movie production. Writer Joe Eszterhas takes a lot of potshots at Hollywood in this cameo-fest, but just ends up shooting himself in the foot. No wonder the actual director, Arthur Hiller, really did pull an Alan Smithee when they wrapped this megaflop.
