Hard-drinking, big-gambling psychologist Gerry “Fitz” Fitzgerald (Pastorelli) works for the LA police department, often using his personal experience as a tormented soul to help solve the city's toughest crimes. Fitz devotes much of his time trying to win back his estranged wife (McCormick), who has had more than enough of his selfish antics. Positioned against Seinfeld, the show had little chance of ratings success. ABC gave the show a second chance to find an audience with a midseason move to Saturday night.
