CBS hoped Steven Bochco's Brooklyn South would find the same success for the network as NYPD Blue did for ABC. After a promising start with a few compelling episodes, the show lost its immediacy and faded into mediocrity. In the ensemble drama, a group of street cops patrol the mean streets of Brooklyn with personal dramas unfolding alongside the officers' professional lives.
