Supergrass

In It for the Money

  • Capitol

The latest U.K. act well worth paying close attention to, Supergrass, seem to have nothing but youth, energy and melodic wonder on their side. In It for the Money finds the gritty power pop trio from Oxford in exceptional form. The band punches its furious sound with intricate textures, from the horn splashes in the hard driving standout “Tonight” to the wild, Eastern-flavored bass and percussion coloring the latter moments of the irresistible “Sun Hits the Sky.” The album builds majestically, peaking late with the lead U.S. single “Cheapskate,” an unforgettable blast of funky keyboards, fiery lead guitar and passionate vocals.
