In celebration of Reich's 60th birthday, his label put together a chronological retrospective of his work, starting with his still-startling early experiments with tape loops such as “Come Out,” his foray into African percussion in “Drummin'” and moving onto his masterpieces, such as “Music for 18 Musicians,” “Different Train” and his most recent 1994 piece “City Life.” Seen as a whole, his output is all of a piece, each work building on the last, pushing minimalist styles to maximum heights.
