Dale Ann Bradley

East Kentucky Morning

  • Pinecastle

Her high, sweet soprano will draw comparisons to Alison Krauss, the reigning queen of bluegrass, but Bradley is older, her voice more weathered. After a few listens you'll find yourself wondering whether Krauss might learn a few things from Bradley's restraint. At the very least, you'll fantasize about a duet. If it hadn't been a global hit, you might mistake “I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For” for a backwoods traditional. How wonderful a Bono song can sound when unclouded by hubris — Bono hasn't sounded this respectable since Roy Orbison sang “Mystery Girl.” The biggest feather in Pinecastle's hat.
