A volatile take on Romeo and Juliet fueled by racism and New Zealand's tumult over immigration. When salacious Croat Nina (Vujcic) falls for a Maori man, Eddie (Arahanga), her prejudiced father (Serbedzija) spins into a bitter rage. Nina further complicates an already tense situation when she agrees to a marriage of convenience with a Chinese man. Explicit sex scenes between Eddie and Nina explain the NC-17 rating.
