Waiting for Guffman
Suzanne Tenner/Castle Rock
Not quite on par with This Is Spinal Tap, but fans of the classic rockumentary should appreciate Guest's eye for camp and the musical satire on display in Waiting for Guffman. Hoping to celebrate the town's sesquicentennial in style, the residents of Blaine, Missouri, plan a musical pageant and hire New York director Corky St. Clair (Guest) to lead the project. The local talent makes Spinal Tap sound like the Rolling Stones. Energy levels and enthusiasm skyrocket when the cast members learn that a New York talent agent may attend the show. Party girl Posey once again steals the show as a Dairy Queen waitress hoping for her big break.
