A tongue-in-cheek homage to 1980s horror flicks. Virginal high-school student Sidney (Campbell) has more than her share of problems. The one-year anniversary of her mother's murder is just around the corner, her boyfriend (Ulrich) is pressuring her to do it, and a serial killer, who likes to gut his victims, is preying on her and her town. Sidney's complacent friends see the town's hysteria as another reason to swill beer and watch horror films, never guessing that they, too, will end up eviscerated. Tabloid-television reporter Gale Weathers (Cox) arrives to cover the town's terror. A good rainy night rent.
