Emma Thompson

Birthplace: London, England

Academy Award-winning film and television actress and screenwriter known for her intelligence and lively wit. Her films include Henry V (1989), Howards End (1992), Remains of the Day (1993), In the Name of the Father (1993), Sense and Sensibility (1995, she also wrote the screenplay), and Primary Colors (1998). She picked up an Emmy for her guest appearance on Ellen (1997). She was in the acclaimed TV movies Wit (2001) and Angels in America (2003). She is in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) in the role of Professor Sybil Trelawney and once again took on the acting-screenwriting roles in 2005's Nanny McPhee. She was married to actor/director Kenneth Branagh and her current spouse is her Sense and Sensibility costar Greg Wise.
