Perhaps the definitive tenor of his generation and certainly the most
popular, Pavarotti performed works by Bellini, Donizetti, Puccini and Verdi. In 1994 he released
The Three Tenors with Placido Domingo and José Carreras.
Pavarotti made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City in
1968 and performed there regularly for nearly 40 years. He was known for
his style, powerful voice, and vibrant personality.
