Academy Award-winning film director, screenwriter and producer who directed Dragonwyck (1946), The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947), All About Eve (1950), and wrote and directed The Barefoot Contessa (1954), The Quiet American (1958), and Suddenly, Last Summer (1959).
