Candice Bergen

Emmy Award-winning television and film actress who enjoyed a successful film career but found wider praise and recognition starring as broadcast journalist Murphy Brown in the show of the same name (1988–98). Her films include Sweet Home Alabama (2002), Miss Congeniality (2000), Gandhi (1982), Starting Over (1979, nominated for Academy Award for best supporting actress) Soldier Blue (1974),The Group (1966), and Carnal Knowledge (1971). She joined the cast of Boston Legal in 2005. She also worked as a model and a photo-journalist, and her photos have appeared in Life and Playboy. She was married to Louis Malle. Her father was ventriloquist Edgar Bergen.
