2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

Director: Stanley Kubrick
Cast: Keir Dullea, William Sylvester and Gary Lockwood

Now considered a masterwork, this futuristic tale was probably the single most cryptic and daring film to come out of Hollywood in its day. Notorious for its extended use of fixed camera and non-dialogue sequences, the visually stunning picture is an ambitious meditation on the evolution of humankind across the milleniums.
