Sunrise (1927)

Director: F.W. Murnau
Cast: George O'Brien, Janet Gaynor and Margaret Livingston

The story of a farmer planning to murder his wife for another woman, though a simple story, is a fine example of the influence of German Expressionism on Hollywood and one of film's greatest cinematic love stories.
