four-time NBA All-Star guard and former Philadelphia Big Five star; led the NBA in assists twice and was a playmaker for two NBA greats: Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; his 6,917 career assists put him 10th on the list of all-time leaders at the time of his death; recorded 20 assists in Chamberlain's 100-point game in 1962; averaged 11.7 points, 7.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds a game in 12 pro seasons; drafted by Philadelphia in 1958, also played for Chicago, Cincinnati and Milwaukee; two-time All-American at Temple; led the Owls to third place finishes in the 1956 and 1958 NCAA tournaments and the 1957 NIT. The cause of his death was not given. Died: Los Angeles, Feb. 19
