Templeton Foundation Prize for Progress
in Religion
The Templeton Prize, an award to encourage progress in religion, was
established in 1972 by Sir John Templeton, a Tennessee-born financial
analyst and Presbyterian layman, and first presented in 1973. Its value
has increased over the years to nearly $1 million, depending on exchange
rates.
