legendary singer, songwriter, and dancer acclaimed as the “Godfather of Soul.” His musical career spanned more than 50 years, with his first hit single, “Please Please Please,” going platinum after its 1956 release. He defined and drove the development of funk music, profoundly influencing pop, rock, R&B, jazz, and hip-hop. His hits included “Papa's Got a Brand New Bag,” “I Got You (I Feel Good),” “It's a Man's Man's Man's World,” and “Cold Sweat.”
