Patricia Dunn,

chairwoman of Hewlett-Packard, announced in September that she would step down from her position in January 2007. She admitted that she had authorized an investigation to determine who on the company's board of directors was responsible for leaking information to the media. She said, however, that she did not realize that the investigators were using illegal methods, including obtaining phone records of journalists and board members and tapping their phones.
