Kenneth Lay Age: 64founder and former CEO of Enron, the energy trading company that filed for bankruptcy in Dec. 2001, who was convicted of fraud and conspiracy in May. He died of heart disease while awaiting sentencing. Lay, who grew up in a poor family, worked for decades in the oil and gas industries, moving up the ranks of the business and making important connections, including the Bush family.
