Safe Drinking Water Reports and Hotline

Updated April 8, 2022 | Infoplease Staff

The U.S. has some of the safest water supplies in the world, but drinking water quality varies from place to place. Every community water supplier must issue an annual report that is mailed to residents on July 1, providing information on local drinking water quality, its source, and any contaminants found in it. Many of these reports are also posted online: http://www.epa.gov/safewater/dwinfo/index.html . Consumers can also call the Safe Drinking Water Hotline and speak to a specialist, Monday through Friday, 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. ET (1-800-426-4791).
