Arnold Newman

Age: 88

pioneering portrait photographer who developed and popularized “environmental portraiture,” a method in which he set his subjects with elements of their professions or personalities to evoke an artistic impression. He photographed dozens of luminaries, including Igor Stravinsky, Andy Warhol, and Ronald Reagan.
