Henry Paulson,

chief executive of Goldman Sachs, was nominated by President Bush in May to become Secretary of the Treasury. If nominated, he will succeed John Snow, whose resignation had been expected for months. Paulson, who joined Goldman Sachs in 1974 and become CEO in 1999, worked for the Nixon administration from 1970 to 1973.
