Desmond Dekker

Jamaican musician who helped to introduce ska and reggae to an international audience with his 1969 hit “The Israelites,” which topped the charts in Britain and reached No. 9 in the U.S. His songs, which include “Rude Boy Train” and “Rudie Got Soul,” were often about street life and violence in Jamaica.
