EU Blacklist of Unsafe Airlines

In 2006, the European Union banned 92 airlines, the vast majority of them from Africa. Declared unsafe according to international standards, they are not permitted to land at European airports. The EU created the blacklist in response to several fatal airline crashes in Greece, Italy, and Egypt in 2004 and 2005 and has since updated the list.
