Buck Owens

Age: 76

renegade country-music singer who shunned string-heavy country arrangements and pioneered the Bakersfield sound—raw vocals accompanied by electric, rock-infused guitars. More than 20 of his songs topped the charts. He hosted the country variety show Hee Haw for 16 years.
