Stephen Harper,

Canadian politician, was elected prime minister in January, when his Conservative Party defeated the Liberal Party, headed by Prime Minister Paul Martin, in parliamentary elections. It's the first time in 12 years that a Conservative will lead the country. He ran as a moderate conservative, shunning decisive social issues.
